Your first guess sets the trajectory of the entire game. The goal isn't to guess the answer on turn one — it's to gather maximum information. The best opening words are rich in vowels and high-frequency consonants.
CRANE and SLATE are mathematically optimal — they cover the five most common letters (E, A, R, I, T, S, N) and include two vowels plus three high-frequency consonants.
AUDIO tests all four uncommon vowels at once (A, E, I, O, U) — great for eliminating vowel possibilities early, but weaker on consonant intel.
Avoid repeating letters in your opener. A word like ALLEY wastes a slot by testing L twice when you could test a new letter.
Wordle is fundamentally a game of probability. The most common letters in English are:
The Elimination Strategy: Use your first two guesses to test as many of these top-10 letters as possible. If you can confirm or eliminate 6–8 high-frequency letters by guess 3, you'll typically have enough information to solve by guess 5 or 6.
If your opener reveals zero green or yellow tiles, don't panic — that's actually powerful information. You've eliminated 5 letters, and the answer is built from the remaining 21. Your second guess should test a completely different set of high-frequency letters.
English words follow predictable letter patterns. Recognizing these helps you guess the answer faster once you have a few green tiles locked in.
In normal mode, you can use a "sacrifice guess" — a word that doesn't match your known letters but tests remaining possibilities. For example, if you know _OUND, guessing a word full of untested letters (like FLAME) can reveal whether F, L, A, M, or E is the missing first letter.
When a letter is yellow in position 2, you know it's in the word but not in position 2. Write down or mentally track which positions each yellow letter has been ruled out from. This eliminates huge swaths of candidate words.
If a letter shows green in one position but you suspect it appears again, test it. Words like SALLY, LEVEL, and ERROR trip up players who assume each letter appears once.
This Wordle Helper works best after 2–3 guesses when you have meaningful constraints. Entering just one guess with mostly grey tiles gives the AI less to work with. Each additional guess dramatically narrows the candidate space.
